Second SSD in a laptop

I have an HP Beats 15 laptop and I NEVER use the DVD drive because its 2018. I am wondering what adapter I should use to get the most of the SATA III. Most of the ones I have seen look like the cover plate on my laptop wont fit. And I kinda want it to look nice. But I have also seen videos on people just taking a few screws out and then screwing the plate from the DVD drive onto the adapter. I am also worried to do this because I know HP does some custom things on their devices.
