Ok, so I have decided to build a custom PC for my work at home job and some gaming. I'm not looking to build something that is super high-end. All I need is a computer that can do some moderate video editing (adobe premiere) and can handle Borderlands well for gaming (at 1080 with 60fps). I know I want it to be mid-tower (micro-ATX), but I am stuck at finding the right CPU, GPU, Motherboard combo. Any suggestions on combos that work well together that are within the $350-450 budget range? I have the case, power supply, and SSD/HDD.

What case and power supply is it?

For 1080p gaming, a 6th or 7th generation locked i5 (name doesn't end with a k), a H110/H170/B150/B250 motherboard, with a 1050ti and 8GB of DDR4 should serve you fine. Video editing on that budget is a bit ambitious though.

I'd go searching for used kits of 4th gen i5/i7 CPU/Motherboard/cooler/16GB DDR3. Then buy a 1050ti or possibly 1060 if you can afford it.

Main rig: i7 8086K // EVGA Z370 Micro // 16GB Gskill TridentZ 3200Mhz CL14 // Sapphire Pulse RX 7800XT// a variety of noctua cooling // Corsair RM750x v2 //  Fractal Meshify C

Secondary rig: R5 3600 // MSI B450i Gaming Plus // 16GB Gskill FlareX 3200CL14 // MSI GTX 1080ti Gaming X // Cooler Master V650 // Fractal Meshify C

Audio setup: Audient iD4 // Adam A7X // Sennheiser HD 650 // Sennheiser HD 25-II // Audio Technica M50x // Sennheiser Momentum 4

but not opposed to 16GB.

With your budget, I'm afraid you likely are :/

I may also have CPU I could possibly use from another PC I have. I'm not sure how great it is compared to others and what I will be using it for. It's an Intel Core i5-3470 @ 3.2 or 3.6Ghz I think.

well it is gonna be decent for fulfilling your purposes as you mentioned here:

also do you have the motherboard of your existing i5 as well? do you have the RAM too? DDR3 required for this i5. if you re-use the i5 again then you will now only need a Graphics Card, which i think by the budget you just said ($350-$450) you can afford a GTX 1070 or even a 1070 ti

The motherboard has quite a horrific story behind it. Let's just say it is not usable in the least.

Is it in any way linked to the psu you are planning to use?
