So I found an ebay listing for a workstation that has the things I want in a gaming PC,

16gb ram

480gb ssd

600w psu

windows 10

Xeon E5-1650 v2 (similar to ryzen 5 1600)

If I just put a 1080 in this, would that be a cheap way of making a gaming pc?

Downsides are obviously a lack of upgrading and not all coolers fit LGA 2011 (but some do)

Just interested seeing as I'm trying to build a gaming PC at the best value and was considering a ryzen 5 1600 already with the same other parts

The E5 1650 v2 in here is quite a bit slower than Ryzen 5 1600. The reason why benchmark sites show otherwise is because this Xeon has an unlocked multiplier and can be overclocked as much as you want, but the Z420 workstation it's in does not have an overclockable motherboard. That's why it's inferior to the overclockable Ryzen 5 hexa core CPU.

Also, the stock NVS 290 does not use any PCIe power connector. I doubt if the original PSU has a PCIe 8pin for a gtx1080, assuming you dont use cards that need another 6pin or 8pin

Besides that, you should look into building a Ryzen 5 system instead. It will have more potential as a workstation than the system that you've mentioned.

Is your maximum budget around $ 500?

Don't know whether cheap or not compared to other alternatives, but it would make a good gaming PC no doubt. You just have to make sure the PSU has all the necessary cables, and that the chassis is not too restrictive to fit your GPU.

WHO THE HELL HAS INTERNET EXPLORER PINNED TO THE TASK BAR?!?!?!?!?!

One time when I was younger I accidentally deleted internet explorer (before I got chrome) and so couldn't access the internet to download it again

It took me 30 mins of panicking and several heart attacks until I realised it was just in the recycling bin

Now I have it pinned so I don't have multiple anxiety and heart attacks at the same time

Can't bare to lose my 1200+ bookmarks

I know a few people who have done same thing as you...

One of them even bought a new laptop because she thought she would otherwise not be able to access the internet anymore xD
