So since I'm a Linus boy, I had to watch the video on the Intel optane memory.

I have a laptop and have been using it for a year now on HDD (ITS TERRIBLE TRUST ME), with boot times of MC Word up to 30s. I'm wondering if my laptop will support optane memory.

A few questions I need answered:

-Can I run optane?

-Will it affect my battery life?

-What drive do I install on Win10 on? How do I set up the optane to boost the HDD?

Specs:

i7-7700HQ

GTX1050

8GB DDR4

1TB HDD

Thanks guys!

What is your exact laptop name? Optane is a m.2 ssd right? If your laptop mobo has a m.2 slot u can run itm it wont affect ur battery. Atleast i do not see how that could affect it. Windows 10 on a ssd is faster booting times

you can't really use optane in any m.2 slot, laptops are not supporting optane

Most Laptops do not support Optane, as it is a desktop feature in most cases. Some high end laptops may support it, but judging from the specs you are saying, its more then likely not supported on your laptop. You may be better off (and generally are) buying a SSD with 500GB or more of storage.

Yup.

Reinstall OS onto new drive, and slowly transfer the stuff you need.
