Hi,

I have decided to build a gaming PC that will be used for most AAA games at max or near max settings. I will be playing on a 144hz 1440p monitor as well.

I am mostly interested in an Intel build but I will consider a Ryzen build if it has similar performance to an Intel build. I also don't plan on streaming and will only be using one monitor.

In terms of peripherals I am only interested in buying a good 144hz 1440p gaming monitor that is not over the top expensive, if using a freesync monitor with Nvidia wont make performance worse then I will use a freesync monitor as they are normally cheaper.

The build I am currently thinking of building will include as much RGB as possible and include a i7-8700k and a GTX 1080 Ti. However, for the GPU I will be happy to wait till July or August if the 1180 will be out by then. I have chosen this build as it will be mostly future proof and will hopefully last me a long time.

In terms of the GTX 1080 Ti I am deciding between Asus, EVGA and Gigabyte but still not sure which to choose.

Here is the build:

The reason why the CPU, RAM and Mobo are priced how they are is because I will be purchasing the combo deal from Newegg which is much cheaper than buying each part separately.

Here is the deal:

https://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.3824773

Also if someone would be able to build me a high end Ryzen machine with the 1080 Ti. The budget is between $3000 and $3500 AUD.

Thanks for the help

Ok, I'll do that, otherwise is the build good? Would you suggest waiting for the 1180 and what monitor would you suggest?

Thanks

I wouldnt suggest waiting for 1180 because it seems to be very expensive. Even if it isnt, it's certainly going to be rare.

Asus MG279Q then.

Also, use the ML120 fan rather than LL120, the LL120 doesnt have quite enough static pressure to perform well as intake fans or radiator fans.

Ok I'll stick with the 1080 Ti,

that monitor is quite expensive, I was looking at something like the MSI Optix, I know it has free sync but it also a bit cheaper, would it be good to get this monitor or is the Asus one better?

honestly I'm not sure if most games can even push 144Hz @1440p , maybe try something cheaper like a 120Hz or 100Hz

Do you have any suggestions for monitors that are lower than 144hz? I've only been able to find monitors at 60hz 1440p or 144hz 1440p. Also, in terms of response time, is there a notable or visable difference between 5ms and 1ms.

Thanks
