Friend about to finally buy parts. Wanted to check one last time

Railgun
Go to solution Solved by Lurick,

Swapped out for some faster ram and a 2x4 kit as well, dropped the GPU down to a faster and cheaper one. Also swapped out the wireless card for something a bit better for a few bucks more.

Hey,

The time has come for my friend to finally build his computer and I wanted to share the part list one last time to make sure there are no objections. I haven't been keeping up with the market lately so maybe there's a surprise waiting for us.

Thanks

Dual channel ram will benefit ryzen by a good bit so if you can drop the 1x8Gig stick to a 2x4Gig kit I would go that route, you've got 4 RAM slots in that board so you can easily add in 2 more sticks later on.

2200g has the same CPU performance, cost $5 less and has greater resale value because of the integrated graphics

B350 Gaming 3 isnt that good of a motherboard. The usual choice is the Asrock AB350 Pro4 because it's cheap and performs well, though the Asus Prime B350-Plus matches the color theme

Ryzen is memory bandwidth starved, so a dual channel memory kit is a must since they dont cost extra. High frequency is less important because they do cost more.

Alright, that's an easy change.

Is the motherboard on the more expensive side to later-on upgrade?

Yeah. I also didn't really want to go cheap on Mobo's just to be safe. Decent amount of usb and pci-e, and I don't know if cheap mobo's are risky or not. This is one area that may or may not benefit from improvement

What makes the Asrock board better? Color theme isn't too important, he doesn't care that much about it

Faster dual-channel RAM. Other than that, it's a good build.

compared to the Gaming 3? Price. Same performance, for less.
