try using sata power to sata drive, that molex to sata is probably causing the problem

Just recently picked up a used Corsair CS750M which was in perfect functioning condition. Just plugged it in today and it did not boot up the PC. It did make a  click noise and was very close to starting. I did the paper clip test on the 24 pin connector and worked like a charm. Then I plugged it back into my PC and with no luck, it didn't turn it on. I've also tried putting the paper clip while everything was connected to the PC. It turned on, but right when I plugged the sata power cable, the power shut off right away and could not be turned back on with the paper clip.

Keynote: I didn't plug in a GPU. I have also did CMOS battery reset.

are you using molex to sata?
try using a different sata cable

is the PC able to post without the HDD being plugged in? (Being able to go into UEFI and click around)

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Also, I can't turn the power supply on without having the paper clip.

Can that molex to sata be culprit of the power supply, making it fail to start? Also theres no sata to sata drive on my corsair psu.

it is probably culprit

sata power to sata drive

if it's modular you can order a replacement cable to get some sata power, but make sure it is for your exact PSU and from OEM because there's not a standard for modular power cables and what's connected to what

How would a sata power cable cause a computer fail to boot? It should be able to boot without a hdd/ssd?

short the power rail to ground, causing the PSU to not turn on due to it being shorted to ground and trying to protect itself / your PC

I've done it without a storage drive, and the pc wouldn't boot as well.

With the molex plugged in?

It was actually the 6 pin to molex connector. It was an aftermarket one that I was using. It was then connected with a data power adapter. Now I have to find an oem 6 pin to molex :/

Good thing the psu is fine.

Why would you need a 6pin to molex? I assume this is PCIE 6 pin.

That's exactly what it was. It wasn't an OEM part which might be the key factor of my PC failing to start.

Btw is it safe to use molex to sata power to power my ssd?

Probably, but why not just use the direct plugs.

The PCIE adapter is a hazard, even if it is OEM.
