Hello,

How are you?

Piecing together a itx gaming build for the living room.

Gaming ITX pc: 8600k vs 8700 vs 2600x vs 2700x

I have all chosen except the board and cpu combo.

I am torn between either a Gigabyte z370n ITX with a 8600k or an 8700 non k.

Or an Asrock X470 fatality with either a 2600x or 2700x.

The prices for board, cpu and ram are as follows:

- 8600k - 490

- 8700 - 525

- 2600x - 495

-2700x - 590

The case is a RVZ01-E and the cooler is a Noctua NH-L12S, so limited overclocking. The 8700 would run stock, the 8600k I could probably get to 4.5-4.6 and both ryzens I would also run stock to take advatage of XFR2 and keep temps in check.

The gpu will either be a blower 1080 or a blower 1080ti.

The Display will be a 4K 60hz 55 inch TV. So either go for the 1080 at most high settings or the 1080ti for a mix of ultra and high settings to get that Vsynced 60fps target.

Still deciding if it's worth the premium for the 1080ti or not.

PSU is an Enermax SFX 650w gold.

SSD is a single m.2 1tb Sata3 drive and that is about it.

On the fence on the CPU though.

What should I go for?

Thanks.

Cheers!

At 4K all of the CPUs pretty much perform the same. If you plan on doing streaming or any other core heavyloads as well as multitasking i would grab the 2700x. Other than that pretty much all the CPUs are tied at 4K while being bittlenecked by the GPU.

At higher refreshrates the 8700 and 8600k would fair better.
