hey i recently got an hp envy x360 with i7 8th gen and a nvidia mx150

the problem am facing is sudden frame. every few se onds drops while plugged into ac adapter

but it runs smooth on battery

my ac adapter is a 90w not 65w

ive tried tweaking nvidia panel settings to maximun performence

updating bios

set power plan to high and adjusted everything in advanced power settings  to favor pluged in

tried to undervolt the gpu

Uninstalling gpu drivers and install the latest ones

nothing worked...

when i investigated it

in task manager :

when plugged in gpu is at 100 load and  fps drops suddenly every few seconds

when unplugged gpu is at 40-50% load with absolutely no frame drops

the only weird solution that has worked

is that i have created a new power plan and set it to battery saver

now while plugged in there r no fps drops but in task manager the gpu % is from 40 - 50 % ( same effect while unolugged when i had the problem)

my question is

using this fix will i always be capped at 40-50% gpu?

are there any other fixes

You'll need to do some more logging here. Run MSI afterburner's overlay with GPU usage, CPU usage, clock speeds and temps to see what exactly happens when the framedrops occur. It'll narrow down where the problem lies.

Also, the 8th gen CPUs tend to throttle quite hard when they get hot, and often the CPU and GPU share the same heatsink assembly, especially with entry level dGPUs like the MX150, so when the GPU heats up it might aggravate the CPU throttling which causes the framedrops.
