Hello I was wondering about custom laptops being a thing. I know there are barebones packages you can get, but you can only put storage and memory in them. Is it possible to create a custom laptop “case”/enclosure and find motherboard for it as well as a screen with appropriate connections. I am just very unsatsified with the current market because I want a thin powerful gaming machine. If there is anything I could do please list in your comment.

Some Clevo laptops can be bought barebones, and add a CPU and GPU, as well as storage and memory.  Mine, for example, has an i7-6700K and a GTX 970M, it's about 2 and a half years old now. (MXM GPUs can be pretty expensive though - when and where I bought mine (RJTech) it was cheaper to get it with the GPU included than separate; also in my particular model the discrete GPU is required, it doesn't support the iGPU.  Also unless someone comes out with a version that fits and doesn't require an extra power connector, I can't upgrade to Pascal.) Current models can use the i7-8700K and up to two GTX 1080s, and there was an older model that used a couple Kepler-era Quadro GPUs and an LGA 2011 (Sandy/Ivy Bridge) Xeon / Core i7 CPU.

Clevo is also rebranded as a few nother names, with Sager being a big one, also I've seen AVA Direct, Eurocom, Origin, maybe a couple others I can't remember at the moment.
