Apparently some HexCam users also came across this issue.

Have you searched their forum already? There are some threads that have a few different guides - some more successful than others - on how to potentially solve the problem.

Yeah I've personally used one as well at college for my motor vehicle maintenance course, it's such an expensive piece of equipment they lock it away when no one is using it.

As far as I know, they've always had that embossed into the housing.

 

When in doubt, email them and give them the serial number, they will confirm if it's real or not
