So, I am thinking of building a budget gaming computer, for some casual gaming (CSGO, PAYDAY 2 etc) based on the Ryzen 3 2200G.

I was going to make a Ryzen 3 1200+1050Ti build, but I will probably use the 2200G for a year, and when prices have dropped, buy a 1050Ti/1060.

The biggest problem I've encountered is memory. Holy sh*t the prices are off the roof! 1x8GB 3000MHz stick is 90$ and since I need dual-channel for the APU, I'm going to have to spend at least 120$ for 8GB. What should I do? Here are my options:

Buy 2x4GB at 2666MHz now for 105$

Buy 1x8GB+1x4GB at 3000MHz now for 160$

Buy 2x8GB at 3000MHz now for 180$

Wait until winter, until the prices drop

Do you guys think the prices will be dropping soon? I don't want to waste too much money on RAM, since it IS a budget build...

You should get 2x4gb as you can overclock 2666mhz to 3000mhz easily

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700 @3.85Ghz, MotherBoard: Asus ROG Strix X370-F, RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB 3000Mhz

GPU: GALAX GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti EXOC White, Case: NZXT S340 Elite Matte White, Storage: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB, PSU: Corsair CX650M

Is there anyone selling used memory near you?

That could be a good option

No, not really, a friend of mine has an extra 2x4GB kit, but sadly its DDR3 and basically useless.

I can also buy a 2x4GB kit of G.skill RAM running on 2133, this model in particular: F4-2133C15D-8GNT

What do you think? :/

I don't really want to pay that much for a ram kit, do you think the prices will be dropping sometime soon? If not, I'll wait until July, then buy the 2666MHz kit

you could wait i mean sometimes there might be a promo or something but demand for ram is still very high.

Hmm, there is a tech store chain here in Greece, they have sales every weekend on various products, I guess I can check once a week and see if there is a good deal on RAM...

Thanks for trying to help :)

I had good luck with a kit of patriot viper that was rated for 2133Mhz. I was able to get it to boot fine at 1.25v 3000Mhz with the timings that i found for their 2666Mhz kit. It cost me about $80. I returned it and got some team delta rgb which is rated for 2400Mhz which I got to 3200Mhz at 1.25V on stock timings but that was $85 and single kit. I've had good luck with cheap team group ram overclocking well in the past. Btw this was all done on an r5 1600 and b350 mobo so pretty middle of the road. Whether or not $80 is too much really depends on how badly you want to have a computer lol.
