Buy a used RX 580 or endure Intel HD graphics

Shoob

Hello there,

My 280x bit the dust, so I'm in the market for a new GPU. The 11-series (or 20-series) could be still far off, especially the mid-range. I found a used MSI RX 580 Gaming X 4GB for 250€, with 2 years remaining transferable warranty. For comparison, the cheapest decent 6GB 1060 is 100€ more and a 3GB 1060 is 20€ more. It's not a great deal, but I think paying 350€ for 1060 is worse. Yay or nay?

I think you should go for it, mining cards aren't nearly as unreliable as people make them out to be. Especially as it's under warranty, that's actually a pretty good deal.

I think so too. I got my R9 280X after the market crashed in 2014/2015 and it had mined for a year and a half before I bought it. It died on me just last week.

Go for it soon though, that's a good deal so it might sell quick

I would definitely go for it.

Especially since you have the additional 2 years warranty.

@Pandalf Are you planning to only use this card to bridge the gap between now and the release/availability of the 11 series NVIDIA cards?

I plan on keeping it for as long as it lasts, or is not enough for my needs. I didn't feel the need to upgrade my 280x yet, so it's a nice upgrade.
