Whenever I boot up my computer I get a repairing screen and afterwards a BSOD with the code "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE".

I have looked up the issue on Google and have tried following the DISM method but the problem is when I type dir c: (Windows is installed on C:) I get a message saying 'File not found'.

How can I go about fixing the issue without having to perform a fresh installation of Windows?

For anyone about to ask, yes I am running windows off an SSD and I think the april update caused the problem since many others seem to be affected.

Thanks for your help

Usually caused when the SATA mode is changed from AHCI to RAID or vice versa in UEFI.

No wait, is your SSD Intel branded by any chance?

It is an older computer and it doesnt have UEFI. Should I still go to the BIOS and try to find that setting? What should I change it to?

See my edit, is it an Intel branded SSD?

It is not Intel branded. Also I just checked the BIOS and the SATA setting is set to Native IDE
