There are a few socket 1150 motherboards with the H87 and B85 chipset that have "Non-Z" Overclocking ability. I have read that intel was working on a microcode release that would disallow non-z OC's, but other than "they're working on it" I haven't heard much.

Does anyone have recent experience with this?

Hmm, you're probably right to just get a Z87. It's mostly due to my impatience anyway.

I have basically everything except the mobo for my new build, and EVERY z87 mini-itx board that has Amazon Prime is sold out. I was really hoping to get everything together friday. Very frustrating.
