power supply

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

It's weird, though.  Like I said... I've been screwed so many times by 3rd party sellers, I checked the "Amazon.ca" seller box on the left.  Despite this, I still got a result from "biddeal".

Now I just fight with Amazon Logistics not delivering my packages at all or leaving them at random doors.  :(

But I digress... @garry dhaliwall:  The TX550M is actually the better value.

It's over five years old?  If not, it's under warranty.  CX has always had  a five year warranty.

Given that list of specs.... 750W is around twice what you need. Even a good 450W is overkill.

So if your CX750 isn't under warranty (i.e. bought before 2013), consider getting a good (not shitty) 450W.

Seasonic what?  There's a shit ton of them.  And the lower wattage ones can be very old designs.

So the CX750 is NOT under warranty anymore?  It's more than five years old?  You skipped over that part of my post.

Ok.. For the record (because a lot of people misunderstand this and I hear this every single day):  If "they" is Amazon, "they" are not the final word in warranty.  If Corsair gives it a three year warranty and Amazon only supports it for two years, that doesn't mean you only have a two year warranty.  That means Amazon will support it for two years, but then after that you contact Corsair for the third and final year.

I don't know why everyone thinks otherwise.  It's not just you.  I really do hear this daily.  If a reseller gives you a warranty that's shorter than what it says on the manufacturer's webpage, that doesn't mean that the reseller's warranty over-writes or over-rules ALL OTHER WARRANTIES.

Regardless of this, it does seem to be out of warranty now.

But do try to remember that for next time.  If Seasonic, for example, says it has a five year warranty and you buy it from Amazon and they say two year warranty, that doesn't mean you have a two year warranty.  That just means you can send it back to Amazon for two years.

That's a hell of a budget.  You can buy pretty much any good PSU for less than that.

On Amazon.ca:

Corsair TX550M is $132.22

Corsair RM550x is $136.70

Best deal seems to be this one:

Seasonic G-Series 650W is $109.99

It's cheap because it's discontinued.  Replaced by the Focus Gold.  It uses an LLC topology with DC to DC minor rails and has a DBB fan.   Pretty solid unit despite it's age.  Buy it new and it still has it's full 5 year warranty.  So if it dies next year, they'll probably give you a Focus Gold as a replacement.  :D:D:D

TX550m is available for $95 Canada Dollars,  IMO at that price it's worth getting over a Seasonic G: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01MSEYY23/?tag=pcp0f-20

Right... but that's from 3rd party sellers.  If you can be sure the product is new, that's fine.  But I've had so many issues with random shit coming from 3rd party sellers via Amazon that I usually just look at "sold by Amazon" products only.

EDIT:  You're right!  $94.99 is from Amazon.  For some reason, when I searched for the PSU the first time around, it gave me the PSU "ships and sold by biddeal" as the first option.  What a bunch of crap.  Amazon's website is so random.

Could be that I went through Pcpartpicker to get to the page...  I'm not sure...

Nowadays looking Amazon for something almost feels like looking eBay...

Just have to wonder how these pricings go between countries...

Here in definitely not the cheapest country Finland Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550W can be bought for ~120CAD equal price...

(24% VAT and delivery included)
