any 'ol B&W or color laser printer will do for occasional home use. depends really what you intend to print. Brother makes several fairly decent all-in-one home printers.

The cost of the printer is not the only thing you should look out for, but also the operating cost. Thus, make sure that the printer uses fairly cheap ink and/or that there is a wide market of second party ink manufacturers for that printer type.

Avoid HP printers, since they locked the use of all ink cartridges apart from original HP ones.
