Planning on building an htpc to replace a ps4 that I never use (Im a pc guy) this is my current build :Htpc build thoughts advice ? I was going for ryzen but the current 2200g requires a bios update on first gen ryzen motherboards and there are only two x470 itx motherboards that currently are way more then I am willing to spend

Ryzen APUs are out for such a long time, older gen mobos should have new BIOS preinstalled. You can check it with the store you'll be buying in, email them or something.

its a similar build to my htpc.  I have a z170 board with a pentium g4600 and a 1050ti and it does everything I need it to.  I have it hooked to a 4k tv, and it obviously cant play modern games at 4k, but at 1080 it works great.

most boards now will have the bios update already installed, and if not then you can always just order a bootkit and update it yourself.
