cores i need help with cores

my system: cpu: AMD Athlon II 2x 250 2cores 3Ghz (overclocked to 3.3)
                   gpu: GeForce GT 710 1gb
                   1TB sata Harddrive
                   Motherboard: ASUS M2N68-AM SE2
                   Ram: 2 Samsung 4gb sticks ( dual channel)
I was thinking of playing modern games like battlefield 4 and gta 5 and like cod black ops 3 but that is just not possible with 2Cores ( at least thats what i think)
i was getting like crazy Studder and i was thinking its probobly the cpu with its all and MIGHT 2 CORES, SO.

i was thinking of upgrading it to Phenom 2 x4 945 which has the same freq at 3ghz (planning to overclock) but it has 4 cores would it help in this situation 

PS: ik my rig bad but i feel like a good processor is all it needs for my satisfaction ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The CPU upgrade will definitely help, but you still have a gt 710 and i would recommend trying for a used 750ti or even a gt 1030 alongside the new phenom x4.

I would think a 750ti would cost somewhere around 50USD on the used market.

I was thinking a R3 2200g + mobo + ram, but with that budget it sadly wouldnt be possible. You would need about 300$ more or less.
