I can get either:

gtx 1080 ti and an i5 8400

or

gtx 1080 and i5 8600k

I went on http://www.thebottlenecker.com/ and they said that both systems would have less than 10% of a bottleneck so it should be okay? Need a second opinion.

what the hell is this site? its crap.

it depends at what resolutions your intending to use that system on, at 1080p even the i7-8700k would get bottlenecked, at 1440p both CPU's would be fine, you might get very slight bottleneck in some games but nothing to be worried about, and at 4K you shouldn't worry at all.

and also when the i5 8400 bottlenecks the GTX 1080TI at 1080p or 1440p the FPS will be above 100 FPS, would you consider that a bottleneck?
the more you crank up those settings, the more the GPU will get used and the less FPS you'll get, and the less bottleneck you'll get.

but either way, i wouldn't pair a GTX 1080TI with an i5-8400 at 1080p or 1440p, get the 8600k, if you have a 144hz display, you'll be much happier.
