Hi, I want to build a custom video editing pc, I am only going to be using it for: 1080p video editing on adobe premier pro, office 365 and some adobe after effects/illustrator

What specs could I go for to get it the cheapest, as long as it runs everything that ive said smoothly that's all that matters

I've currently got these parts in mind, should I stick with them, upgrade a few parts, or even downgrade a few, or mayby add somthing, thx

Intel 8th gen i5 8400
Zotac gtx 1050TI OC 4GB
Corsair vengeance lpx 8GB 3200MHZ
Crucial MX500 ssd (250GB)
Segate baracuda 1TB HDD
Asrock Z370M motherboard

Thermaltake core v1 mini itx case
2 x be quite 80mm fan
Corsair VS 450 psu (non modular)

Current build cost is £730, I would like to get it a bit lower without compromising performance for the tasks I said, mayby even go amd route as they have some good cpu for editing in terms of cores and threads?

BTW I haven't included a cpu cooler as I could use the stock one, do you think a better one is needed?

Why a z370M?

No a better cpu cooler is not needed.

I would try for a 1700/2700 purely for the 8 cores.

Okay, fair enough... The fans, do you need expensive 80MM fans? Can you go with some cheaper fans?

You can get the ASRock H310M-ITX/ac for cheaper. It won't run ram faster than 2666 but I think you won't really benefit from it, it would be better to just get 16GB for the tasks you mentioned.

Same for SATA ports, the H310 has 2 less but I don't see the benefits especially with the case you choose. In any case you could get a 250GB SATA m.2 drive to save an additional port.

But you won't benefit that much from higher RAM speed with Intel build. And I'd say you'd be better off getting 16 GB kit of slower RAM.
Is wi-fi realy a must?

To some extent you could also leave out the GPU and buy it later if you feel you need it. The 8th generation Intel has quite good integrated graphics and premiere can use its hw acceleration.

Also I would get the Corsair CX450M instead of the VS as it semi modular and in your case it can be hard to store excess cables and that could impact cooling performance.

@Jrock the fans are £12 for 2 , the case itself comes with a 200mm fan on the front, do I even need 2 extra 80mm, which I can fit to the back?

You don't need extra fans at all, this system will make very little heat.

What type of footage are you working with?

Id probably go ryzen 1600, they can be found for cheap and are faster.

Get a 2tb hdd, faster and not much more money, and you will use up space fast

Get 16gb of ram if you can, you really want 16gb.

@Quadriplegic , okay I'll get slower 16gb ram instead, and yes wifi is as my router is downstairs

You can pickup a cheap USB wifi stick if you dont mind. Should be cheaper than built in wifi.

A bit cheaper Intel based system (you could probably look for a better PSU for similar price):

@Electronics Wizardy , where's the gpu

in the cpu. It will be a bit slower, but you probably won't notice. you also get more ram and ssd space.

its only a bit slower, and can be oced, and op want a cheap system that would work, and this will.

Thats true.

One suggestion to this list would be to add like a 2tb HDD. theyre fairly cheap but you'll probably end up needed it down the line.

@Jrock what version of the 1050ti should I get, there's £10/15 diffrence in them

Do you need the GPU? the one in the 2200g should be enough for just basic video editing etc. Thats mostly CPU intensive.

premiere loves the gpu, without one its much slower. You don't need a very fast gpu though.

What about the iGPU acceleration for adobe? this would make the i5 much faster then the ryzen apu for this use case.

Thats only for x264 exports. Editing will be the same. Other exports are the same. Its also lower quality.

The zotac is £166

Can u get this 1050ti version or will it thermal throtal

the 1050(ti) makes very little heat, it won't thermal throttle.

Id look at the 2400g as its enough gpu power here, or look at a 1050, premiere doens't need that much gpu power.
