Windows 10 100% Disk usage

Hi,

 

I was a user of windows 7 until Apr'18, switched to Windows 10 and only concern is disk usage 100%.

System Configuration: Dell 3576

i5-8250u | 4GB DDR4 2400 | AMD Radeon 520 2GB GDDR5 | 1TB HDD 5400rpm.

Installing windows 10 with recent update on HDD is a nightmare.

 

I have older ISO it ran on the same spec just fine, but the new one, holy shit...

Because of your 5400rpm hard drive working with windows 10 is going to be a pain, i would highly recommend you to get an ssd.

Indeed, simply buy an SSD. Those prices are actually quite cheap nowadays. You’ll see a major difference before and after the install, especially in your case with your 100 % disk usage since that’s the bottleneck of your system.

What consumes the disk. Use the Task Manager or Resource Monitor panel in Windows to know.

I am thinking that Windows is just finishing things up, indexing your file, updating the built-in apps, and doing other maintenance task.

You are also probably missing drivers. Make sure you have the latest drivers for everything, especially your motherboard chipset (and SATA controller, if you use one that isn't part of the motherboard chipset)

As per details mentioned in "here: https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/100-disk-usage-windows-10-fixed/", I tried lowering the paging size to 256MB min and max, and after restarting my system, HDD usage looked normal only for once. but same issue occurred again after second restart.

Will try to create an 8GB partition which will be used as paging for virtual memory and will revert back with the details.
