Hi guys. I’m going to do my first build in a couple of days, and it’s just for light use. For games, just a couple of e-games like overwatch and dota is the only game i’m playing right now.

for build parts

CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G

Mobo: MSI A320M Grenade

Memory: 8gb (4x2gb) G.skill 3200mhz (I have a question about this)

PSU: Seasonic 520watts 80+ bronze rated

SSD: 120gb (just for boot)

HDD: 1tb WD Blue

i have mainly a question which I just dont understand. I understand the MOBO doesnt support overclocking, which is ok for me because I dont plan to overclock my system but on the website specs, it says it supports RAM of 3200 mhz (OC)? I dont know if I should get a 3200mhz because Im not sure if it’s fully supported or should I just go with a cheaper ram at 2400mhz?

BTW, i plan to buy a GPU in the future, when I decide to play bigger titles, but as of right now, the only games i would be running would be overwatch and dota. I’m just confused with what RAM i should buy.

The no OC support applies to the CPU.  MSI's site says the grenade board will do 3200 RAM (OC) so if you load the XMP profile in the bios you should be able to take advantage of DDR4 3200.

I'd highly suggest just getting a 350 board like https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TsfmP6/msi-b350m-gaming-pro-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b350m-gaming-pro and giving yourself the capacity to OC the 2200 later though.  The price difference is negligible and the 350 has the same options unless im missing something that the 320 offers?

A320 boards do support memory overclocking, though 3200MHz is not necessary. Even 2800-3000MHz ones will get close enough, could be better deals when factoring prices.

But why? Guaranteed overclocking is still overclocking, there could be instability still.

I’m just trying to save as much as I can since the pc will just for basic use like MS office, web browsing and watching movies with the most intensive thing it’ll run is overwatch and dota probably :) but I am considering asrock b350m pro4 mobo.

Though thank you for answering that I could run a 3200 mhz RAM, because Ryzen APUs run better with faster ram :)
