Hi all, I just bought a beyerdynamic dt290 headset at a swap meet, mint condition for $5. I was unaware that it did not come with the cable, but I am still very happy I was able to find such a deal. However, I am not sure if I want to sell it and use the money to buy a different pair with better audio or to buy the cable for this headset. I know that the main attraction of this headset is the microphone used for casting, I just want whatever can get me the best audio. Any suggestions on what to buy, or is this headset already good for audio quality?

That's a steal for that price, 'grats! Only issue is, cable connector plug seems to be proprietary (not 100% sure though) and you may have to pony up some hard cash for the cable. The cable sold bundled with the DT290 is the one below:

Do you have a 3 pin XLR connector for the mic? Seems the headphone part uses a regular 1/4" TRS plug.....

I dont have an xlr connector. Since the cable is so expensive, would selling it be better for me? The mic isn't my main interest, I'm mainly focused on the audio quality and if I can sell it for a different one with better quality that would be nice.

Im pretty sure they were sold with bare wires and you soldered what you wanted.

Nothing stopping you from having two jack cables or even a 4 pole jack.
