#D printer extrusion

I have many questions about 3D Printing like...

  1. Can I use 2.85mm filament with a printer that uses 1.75mm filament?
  2. Can I use blue scotch painter's tape for the print bed?
  3. Does anybody want to fund my gofundme for a 3D printer?

1. Not sure. Hopefully someone else can comment. I've gone the other way though.

2. I've had surprisingly good success it. I use it when I have to disable the heated bed. Besides the bottom of the print not being glass-smooth, I didn't see a difference in print quality.

3. Sorry, I actually need parts myself. Mainly a hoted and a relay board.

1 - Probably not

2 - As @kennethnakasone said, yes, you can

3 - I doubt it. People don't generally respond well to people begging them for money without  getting something in return.

1. No, that would require an entirely new hot end and extruder

2. yes, I have been using blue painters tape for bed adheasin for years. sticks great while printing and parts pop right off after the bed cools down.

3. No, dont beg for money for personal projects on gofundme. It ruins credibility of the site and causes people who really need financial help to be ignored. If you really want to use a 3d printer, try and find out if you have any local maker spaces.

Probably not (the extruder is probably not build to handle wider), yes and no. I don't really have any issues printing straight on glass with my printer though. Taped does make adhesion easier, but no smooth bottom layer.
