Depending on your budget (or where you live), here are my suggestions. Arranged from lowest price to highest.

 

Redmi 5. Very inexpensive but great phone. On pictures, the Redmi series looks like they have a big chin. But believe me, they don't looks as bad in person.

 

Redmi Note 5 / Pro. Good performance, battery life, and camera for its price.  You really won't go wrong with a Xiaomi.

 

Oppo F7. A lot would say that Oppo / Vivo phones doesn't bring good value for its specs. I'm not disagreeing with them. But you have to hold one to know why these phones sell very well. Forget about the black and red color; they look cheap. The moonlight silver is the only color that looks good on this device. It has a surprisingly good camera, really fast face unlock and fingerprint sensor, good performance and battery life. (Mediatek chipsets are usually bad. But the Helio P20, P23, and P60 are good ones). It's cousin the Vivo V9 probably has the highest screen to body ratio, but don't consider that one. It has tons of letdowns.

 

Oneplus 6. One of the best looking device to come out in 2018. One of the best performers as well. But don't expect much about its water resistance and camera. The camera is just around the level of the Oppo F7. It's not going to compete with real flagships. Good value though.

 

LG G7. LG is always a true Samsung competitor. They go head to head with Samsung's flagship, except on sales figure.

 

Galaxy S9 / S9+. Still the best overall phone.
