So i'm building my first ever PC and i want it for gaming. I would like to stick the Intel proc and i'd like to know what would be the best one for the job. I keep reading online that the i5 is the one or the i7 and now my head is spinning. can someone please help me.

Let's start off simple. What is your budget (and currency)? What kinds of games are you looking to play? Are you willing to lower settings or do you want max settings on everything? Also, what computer parts do you already have that you could carry over to your new build (monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.)?

i5's are great because they're still pretty good, and they're a bit less expensive than i7's. i7's  are newer, some have more cores and are just better but also more expensive.

(what I gathered from like 2 articles I read)

Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen R7 3700X @4.4Ghz, GPU: Gigabyte RX 5700 XT, RAM: 32 GB (2x 8GB Trident Z Royal + 2x 8GB TForce Vulkan Z) @3000Mhz, Motherboard: ASRock B550m Steel Legend, Storage: 1x WD Black 1Tb NVMe (boot) + 1x Samsung 860 QVO 1Tb SSD (storage), Case: Thermaltake Core V21, Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

the only things i've picked up so far are a mouse, keyboard. so it really is my first build. i've got max 1300 to play with but that doesn't mean i have to spend all of it if i can help it. I would like to be able to play ESO (Elder scrolls online) Overwatch and ark. at 60fps if that is possible. if i figure out what proc to go with i might be able to figure out the rest. theres just so many

You realize that there are i3s, i5s and i7s that are all current generation, right?

I just skimmed a few articles and went with that little bit of information to make a kind of informed answer.

Sorry buddy i meant to add what currency it was, i'm using Euro's. I don't edit video much, I do take photos as a hobby. Also i wouldn't mind having the possibility of streaming also.

Are you looking for a single monitor? If so, I would recommend taking a look at some 1080p ultra wide monitors that are high refreshrate if that is in your budget, otherwise you could take a look at just normal high refreshrate monitors that will provide a smoother gaming experience.. Also, if you are looking to stream, I would recommend taking a look at Ryzen 5 CPUs if you are willing to consider AMD.

Added high refresh rate recomendation.

I would be looking for something with a high refresh rate but that would be further down the line. Just need to get the machine built first. I've never used a AMD proc before and no less about them then i do about Intel.

If you want to stream comfortably then it would be recommended to look at either the r5 2600 (the best budget option) or the more expensive i7 8700. Then for the gpu you could go with the gtx 1060,also an asus mobo, 16gb of ram and a 2tb hdd, 250gb ssd.

i thought of a build like this before but isn't it really expensive ?
