Hi, im still trying to find something that can increase my mic volume without the unwanted noise, someone here at LTT suggested a software workaround but i would prefer hardware instead for a cleaner approach. Need recommendations if possible thanks!

To be honest, software (especially in low budget situations) can be much more elegant than mis-using hardware. And this all depends on what mic you're using.

 

To start with, technique. Get up close and personal with the mic, make sure you're talking into the diaphragm and not across it.

 

Software wise: Voicemeeter banana, would be a good place to start, with decent eq, dynamics, and routing. For anything under studio use, this is probably your best option. An alternative would be equaliserAPO, which can be used on inputs, but is more geared towards outputs.

 

If you happen to be asking about a professional studio setting, then you know the answer I'm going to give you, which is a cloudlifter (model depending on how many sources you've got issues with).

If you're using a modmic then it's relying on the soundcard to provide at least +5v, which some struggle to do. The usb adapters are a good solution to this if you find software creates too much noise.
