Hello, I was trying to decided whether to get a new CPU or GPU and couldn't decide. If I do get the GPU I would also like to replace the power supply so could someone also recommend a good one to go along with it. My current specs are a gigabyte GTX1080ti Gaming three fan edition and 16Ggbs of 2666Mhz Ram. A 120mil radiator that came with my case, a i7-8700k, a generic 1,000 Walt power supply, and a Asrock Z370 Taichi motherboard. My budget is $1,300 or $1,500 but don't want to go much higher than that.

Well lets throw around 2000 dollars on a "generic" 1000w power supply XDDDD

First of all you got best gpu and cpu for gaming ( better solutions are for profesionals and requiere more than 1k$)

Second: You are gambling all your components to a generic power supply , the only component that you should look the brand and the quality it's the PSU

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

ATNG 1000 WATT 80 PLUS gold power supply is what is in it now. I kept getting mixed good and bad reviews for it and wasn't sure what it was right off hand so I just went with generic.

well you didnt mention ssd's. I would say get 2 nice ssd's, i use a 1gb samsung for my os and 1 gb samsung for games, and other sam's for storage, but id say get that, and a better psu first. Your system is similar to mine except your gpu, if anything just ge6t the new 1100 series gpu when it comes out, or you could sli 1080ti's and either choice you wont need to upgrade your gpu for awhile as no games require more then 4gb as is now on the gpu.

1. ssd's
2. psu
3. ram
4 then gpu if you still wanna upgrade more.

I just want to upgrade it cause had the extra cash I didn't think id have after making all my tuition payments for my school so figured id upgrade my PC is all.

There are so many other things to do with "excess" cash while in college.  :)

Do you not understand the level of your components?  I ask because you have a 1080Ti, non Founders, and are asking to upgrade it possibly.  This means you do not know what a 1080Ti is, and what the upgrade path from it would be.  Asking here is a good call tho, as I think you'll understand what you have now.

Look into SSD's if you don't have one, but I assume you do since you have bought top end components.  Except for the PSU it seems.

Sit tight, don't upgrade just because you have the money.  You're good.

would it be worth it getting a higher quality PSU? im only asking because it is what came with my case and I keep hearing good and bad things about it.

Since there seems to be almost no information available on it, it's actually hard to say if it's good or bad. Seems like an OEM company, so it could be anything. You're free to replace it with a known, high quality modular PSU. No one is going to give you flak for it. If you just want less of a worry, go for it. There's a lot worse things to spend ~100USD on.
