so something i was wondering and wanted other peoples opinion on is whether or not overclocking your cpu is worth it. specifically I'm talking about having something like a i5 7600k and only really playing games on 1080p or at 1440p, also you wouldnt be doing serious video editing or content creation (except for memes)

love to know peoples opinion on this

if you are paying for the hardware that can be overclocked and NOT overclocking then you are basically paying more money for less performance then what you could get. always overclock, it's not hard and you can't hurt anything as long as you don't do stupid shit.

i see in your specs that you use a RX 480 GPU so i would say no it's probably not worth it to overclock your CPU for most games even at 1080p since even at stock the i5-7600K can prepare a lot more frames than the RX 480 can deliver on high settings...so my answer would be if you already own a decent CPU cooler try bumping the multiplier a bit, otherwise enjoy as is.

i wasnt talking about my personal build since my cpu doesnt support overclocking because i didnt think it was worth the extra buying one when i didnt need it

well, even with a 30$ cooler you can get a slight bump in performance without increasing temps and then it's worth it...i like to slightly undervolt and slightly overclock my cpu's when possible, same for GPU's.

For example my 4770K is currently running a fair bit faster than stock, with lower voltages and power consomption than default motherboard settings.

It depends on the game, graphics card and target frame rates.

I would never buy things like the 7600k, but if I have one I will use some cheap cooler and see how far I can push without raising temps too much.
