High End Active Speakers

I'm looking for some recommendations for high end active speakers as well as the debate between passive and active. Personally I am more a fan of active as it is a much cleaner setup and I do not own any amps/dacs etc. I don't need the flexibility or using different amps as these will be used mostly for music listening and films at home but am interested in your opinions.

 

Two I have for my shortlist are:

Acoustic Energy AE1 Active

Elac AM 200

 

The elac's seem to be quite new as I can't find much info on them. Has anyone here tried them? Thoughts between these 2 models?

Not fully sure I would agree with your statements... but if you want active, then go for it. I also can't gauge your budget because some of these aren't offered in the US. But based on reputation, I would go for the Elac speakers. 

 

If you are willing to venture out, I recommend you consider the LS50 active from KEF. You won't be disappointed in the quality. Plus they are much fancier looking for the price.
