What is core clock?

I was checking PCPartPicker trying to decide which GTX 1060 3GB I am going to buy, then I realised that each card has a different core clocks, do you think an extra 30 USD worth an upgrade from 1.51ghz core clock to a 1.61ghz core clock?

Does it give me higher fps?

Does it have to do with overclocking (becuz I dont wanna overclock)?

no the only major thing that boosts a 1060 is going with the 6gb version , the 3gb version isn't too good.

Higher core clock on a card just means that a manufacturer has overclocked it, but overclocking on pascal cards is so easy that there is no reason to spend 30 dollars for that. If you want to spend more get a 6gb 1060, because it has more processing units also, meaning higher performance.

Core clock is the speed of the GPU. A higher core clock means higher framerates in games. Though the difference is not as noticeable as having more memory available, so I would definitely go with the 6GB version without question. You can overclock your graphics card manually, but you cannot add more memory, and having more memory means being able to run games without stutter at the higher resolutions and with more details turned up.

Nvidia cards use something called GPU boost, so the core clock on manufacturer pages don't really matter. Plus you can always overclock the cards yourselves and get higher core clocks.

The cards being sold with lower core clocks will overclock more. Eventually all GTX 1060 3GB's will perform the same if overclocked to the same level.
