Do i need a premium DP cable?

So I have a AOC Freesync 144hz 1080p monitor. I recently upgraded to a 1080ti so I decided to buy a g-sync monitor. I ended up getting a 'Dell Gaming Monitor S2417DG', It states 1440p @165hz. I am currently useing a dp on my current monitor. I keep reading some people say that you should get a better one, I'm not sure if they are trolling or if I should consider buying a premium DP cable to ensure I can get 1440p at possibly the refresh rate they boast.. Any response is appreciated, Thanks!

Basically the same thing. Anything that satisfies the display port standard should be the same.

I bought the 27 inch one and used this display port cable amazon dp 6.6ft

The monitor comes included with a DP cable that will work fine.

I saw that video and was thinking that, but I just kept seeing posts saying I should get a certain level of quality for 1440p at 144hz

You should be fine with the included cables

It is true that not all DisplayPort cables can handle high data rates like 1440p 144+ Hz. See here: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/729232-guide-to-display-cables-adapters-v2/?output=DP

 

However, the included cable can handle it, otherwise it would be rather pointless to include
