So I want to overclock my cpu so it can support my desire memory, I am really new to x59 what base overclock do i need to support my 1600 mhz memory? I read on fourms the only way to have memory at 1600mhz to boot is to baseclock my cpu. I have aftermarket cooler.

CPU:GA-X58A-UD3R

Motherboard: Intel Xeon X5675

Memory:6*4 GB DDR3 Memory Samsung

I know the memory is working, booted and detected on another machine.

You need 160MHz BCLK (stock value is 120MHz right?), if you want 1600MHz RAM

But why? Memory overclock isnt as important as CPU clock speed. I'd say focus on CPU overclock first, then select the RAM multiplier that makes the RAM frequency on or below 1600.

My memory won't boot, I don't really mind cpu clock speed as it will be used as a server. Also I won't able to test it until I have PS2 keyboard, as the bios freezes in overclocking menu using USB keyboard.

I mean I don't think i will be overclocking cpu, i just want it working ASAP lmao. Or is ther another way to bios to boot, I have tired resetting cmos etc.

then just leave your memory at 1333. Probably something to do with timings, definitely not good if you want it to work ASAP

Mine is at 1603. I won't be home for 5 more hours but I'll see if I can find my settings in another post. I do know that I have a multiplier of 25 and am at 4.0ghz.

133bclk X 12 mem multiplier = 1600. That's the XMP profile, at 1.65V, for the memory I bought new back in the day. No CPU OC required, at least on my ancient i7-950.

I also would say OC the CPU and let the memory end up where it ends up. I have never noticed a difference in performance from 1333MHz memory all the way to 2100, on this platform.

My settings can be found here. The video is not mine, but I've found it to be a good guide for overclockimg X58.

It is not a perfomance issues, as it a boot issues. My system won't boot with 1600mhz memory, but my 1333mhz boot without issues. I want to get all my 6 of 4GB 1600mhz to boot.

I am going to try doing it sometime next week when my PS2 adpater arrives. As I read it keyboard issues not able to access overlocking menu with USB keyboard.
