For that budget, I would look at some combo deals that retailers are doing to flush out generation 1 Ryzen stock.

You should be able to get an R5 1600 + B350 based combo for cheap.

If you can net an R7 1700, definitely do it.

Desktop:

AMD Ryzen 7 @ 3.9ghz 1.35v w/ Noctua NH-D15 SE AM4 Edition

ASUS STRIX X370-F GAMING Motherboard

Samsung 960 EVO 500GB NVME

2x4TB Seagate Barracuda HDDs

Corsair RM850X

Be Quiet Silent Base 800

Elgato HD60 Pro

Sceptre C305B-200UN Ultra Wide 2560x1080 200hz Monitor

Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum Keyboard

Logitech G903 Mouse

Oculus Rift CV1 w/ 3 Sensors + Earphones

Nice list. Almost exactly what I went with. The 1600 is a safer bet probably in terms of B350 compatibility, I only picked the 2600 for the sake of 10 bucks!

Any questions at all please ask. I edit video for a living!

For that money i would try to get a r7 1700, as they are being flushed out, and can be gotten for real cheap.

I agree.

The OP definitely needs to make sure that the motherboard will come with the latest BIOS out of the box for the 2600 though.

The main reason I didn't pick the 2600 was budget. It certainly would be the better choice given the small cost differential. Although motherboard BIOS compatibility must be taken into account.

AMD really needs to get those B450 boards out.

What type of video are you editing  8K 4K 1080 720? What are your run times. What is your production deadlines  Daily Weekly Monthly. Anyways Core count then Video and Ram than Storage Raid 0+1 so your work is safe the rest is candy coating. Dell or Hp will get you a warranty so you will have less down time.  oh and a Display is a must if doing high end stuff
