New Graphics Card

Go to solution Solved by Brooksie359,

Just get a 1060 6gb if you can find one in your budget. You can still play 1080p just fine in the future. You just need to lower some settings down the line which is fine. The whole future proof idea is based on always needing high settings which in my opinion is kinda ridiculous.

I need 2 Graphics Cards. I already know one but the other I'm not so sure about.

I've 2 computers. One is my main and one is another I own. The other I own is old but still does good even today. I want to get a GTX 750 Ti for it. It goes well.

The main, you can get specs in the thing you can open at the end of every reply (Forgot what it's called. Remind me please). I don't know what GPU to get for it. I want your suggestions. Here's some details to help for accurate suggestions:

Even though my PC is powerful (Compared to today's RGB standards it isn't really that much, but it's enough for me), I'm currently limited to a 1440 x 900 60 Hz display, so even if its a high end GPU I can't really use it to its max potential. Later I might upgrade to 1080p 60Hz, but I doubt anything beyond that. (You might have a different opinion, but I think this is fine.) So suggest a graphics card that can handle 1080p fps well (Doesn't really seem like a lot now that I think about it....)

The graphics card must not be expensive and should have high value for its cost. One that is capable of handling AAA games at high to max settings but only at 1080p 60fps. The most I can spare is around 300 US$, but I don't want to spend a lot if it's not needed. It also shouldn't be too weak as to bottleneck my CPU (i5 6600k).

Originally I intended to get either the GTX 1060 or the RX 480 (which got replaced by a 580), but those seem both unnecessary as I don't do gaming at high resolution, but even then they were good options. Now however they have increased in cost for some unknown reason. I still remember the RX 480 8GB being 240 US$ but now the RX 580 is around 400-450 US$ if not more, so between those two I have no choice but to resort to the GTX 1060 but use online shipping since it's overpriced in my country (Pakistan. Overpriced stuff is EVERYWHERE here.)

I can only think of the GTX 1060 as a good option, but then again I haven't seen some of the past generation cards and their performance. Which is why I want your suggestions. If you don't have one in mind then (if possible) suggest which version of the GTX 1060 I should go for. MSI, Asus, EVGA, etc. I don't know which one between those, if I really am to buy the GTX 1060.

Thank you for reading.

TLDR; I want a new GPU for my PC. It has to be futureproof, capable of handling AAA games at high or max settings around 1080p 60 fps, shouldn't bottleneck my CPU (i5 6600k) and around 300 US$. Anything lower than that price is what I want, but if I have to, I'm willing to spend that much.

Futureproof these days... is hard. But for 1080p, I would say futureproof for a while would be spending the extra hundred and picking up a 1070 from bestbuy for $400, the power to price ratio is great. It's the equivalent to a 980ti strix or titan x maxwell in performance. 1050ti and 1060 is nowhere near futureproof at 1080p, as games seem to use more and more gpu (as unoptimized games seem to be popular these days, pubg, other games that are early access, unreal engine 4 games can run like crap on anything lower than a 1060 6gb with decent visuals...).

Honestly I would. And I'd even upgrade my monitor for a good experience, but I lack funds. I can only spend around 300US$, and that's without shipping charges or taxes.

I agree with Adam. 1070 would be the best bet in this situation.

If I were to get the 1070 I'd have to wait another 6 months. Savings is really hard to gather. I can do that, but I don't know if it is actually worth waiting that long.

Trust me, 6 month wait can lead to a couple years of not having to buy another card. edit: Hell, a 6 month wait would equal out to the 1100 series to come out with more powerful boards for about the same price :D Win/win

Let's forget the fact that I demanded the card to be futureproof. Let's just say I want a new GPU that can do on heavy games high to max settings at 1080p, and fits under 300 US$. What cards would you be able to suggest? I don't care how old it is, and I don't care if its from AMD or Nvidia.

do well on heavy games and achieve high to max settings*

Like the other guy said, 1060 6gb then.
