Build for friend under $650

I don't think you can overclock on a B85 board so if you want to overclock your probably going to have to get a Z87 board.

Other than that the 650 Ti would be the only bottle neck, but if your giving it to him for free then he shouldn't have much to complain about.

Another note you can spend $5 and just get the 1tb WD Blue drive from amazon.

Thanks for the wd drive suggestion changing it now.

Another note that I forgot to mention in my last post is the option of a Corsair CX 500 or 600, they are pricier PSU's but at least they will give him more head room for future GPU's if he every decides to upgrade.

On amazon the CX 600 is only 5 dollars more than the 500, but the prices may vary on other sites.

ANOTHER NOTE (just want to give you some more info)  you might want to think of a different case than the Bitfenix Prodigy M.  From what I've seen it is definitely possible to fit all those parts into the case, but you won't have very many options when it comes to airflow and cable management.

But, if your friend really likes the case then it's probably ok to go for it.

The ram won't fit underneath the heatsink.

I personally have both the ram and the cooler on a asus p8z77-v and they fit perfectly fine (I would assume the ram spacing on other asus boards is similar) also note that mount the cooler vertically or horizontally (looking top down on the motherboard) to ensure ram compatibility.

but if you want to overclock the cpu I would recommend this asus board http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z87mplus it is a bit more pricey but there is no point buying a K processor without getting a motherboard to support it. but as long as it has a z87 chipset you should be able to overclock it. also the 650ti is a great budget card and performs pretty good in most games. also I think you should get an ssd as they just make a computer AWSOME to use. If you're friend isn't that good with computers if you get a 64gb ssd you can cache the blue drive onto iit so the os sees it as one drive and the chipset does all the work in the background (note if you do this make sure to install windows onto the HDD with the ssd disconnect as II have found the windows 7 installer likes to put the little 100mb support partions onto the ssd and then you can't cache it later on using the utilty.)

The Cake is a Lie...
