So i built a new pc a couple months ago, ryzen 5 1400, 8gb kingston dd4 2133, 1050ti and wd 1tb. so everytime i boot up after changing some driver or updating windows or changing something in the bios it takes about 15 min to boot up(yeah...) if i boot it up without doing any of that it turns on normally fast.. about a minute. this delay also happens when i restart even if i didnt change anything. it just stays in the windows logo with the thingy spinning for most of the time then black screen.. again spinning thingy and no logo for like another minute and then goes into windows. i did the whole windows performance analyzer and it shows ShellExperienceHost.exe <Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost> taking 420(lul) seconds and SeachUI.exe <CortanaUI> taking another 134 seconds. what can i do? its incredibly irritating and imaging trying to oc and taking 15 min everytime you change something.

i take you stopped reading at wd 1tb... as i said.. when i change nothing it boots up in a minute.. the other dude has the same problem with an ssd... i know harddrives are considerably slower than an ssd but 15 min boot time is obviously not because its a mechanical drive

partition the boot drive to a smaller size like 256gb, just enough for windoz and main program.

that would help speed it up a little as the needle will be traveling (seeking) a shorter distance.

Nevermind what i said, that;s just way too long :D

Bad memories sometime stalls the boot. Move it to a different slot.

i cant really move the ram cause its just one stick. the odd thing is that if i didnt change anything meaning driver, bios or updates it boots normally.. in fact when i need to restart i shut it down wait a min turn it back on and it just boots normally and ends up being faster than restarting. aaaaaaaaaahh freaking windows

When you change nothing, your hard drive boots in about a minute. Meaning the rest of the time when it takes an excessive amount of time to boot, it is writing data to apply said updates. That takes time.
