Hey,

so i have just brought my last part for my first build which is a EVGA SuperNova 550 G3. i got it from America and shipped it to New Zealand where i am because it was cheaper.....now i know that this unit is can handle the 240v 50Hz here as i checked on the website and looked at the specs. i was going to use the 24pin PSU tester that came with the unit but then i saw a problem which is the input cable that plugs into the wall, it says in tiny words at the PSU end 10A 125V 1250W. so if i plug this cable (that says 125v) into a 240v socket what will happen??....is it safe???

also i should mention that i am using a adapter that goes from NA pins to New Zealand pins (same pin layout as Australia)

Thanks heaps

Hello Mate, I think you are totally safe, Power(watts) = Voltage (volts) * (I)Current (Amps), thats why it say 1250W, you should be totally fine. I do that all the time when I'm abroad

Less amps gets pulled through at 240v than 120v so it’s fine. The cord says 120v because that’s what the wall plug shape is. In reality it’s 600v rated cable. It’s always 600v rated cable. The plastic coating on the wires is pretty standard.

Your only worry is to remember that when you do double the voltage, you can only run half the amps. But the total watts (1250) stays exactly the same.
