id say its overkill, you can get a i5 8400 and not notice a different in most games.

Id get a 1070 and 8400 or 2600 instead and will be better in most games.

Agreed.  If you haven't bought parts yet then balance this out a little.  Unless you have a workload that will use all the cores an 8700K has, then an 8400 and a better GPU will get you a better gaming experience.

when ppl buy hardware they want futureproofness too 8400 isnt that future proof,    atleast get an 8600k and if u want to play upcoming games 8700k is recommended bcoz of how poorly stuff is optimized these days

gpu can always be upgraded, cpu will not be available in a few years ( due to not sellin the same socket n what not anymore ), look what happened to haswell and ivy ( tho their fine cihps still )

No, the 8400 won't overclock.  The 8600K will.  You need the K at the end and a z370 motherboard to OC.

yea but i didn't realize that i thught it was overclockable but why does it show that it can go upp to 4.0 ghz?

thats turbo boost, it will clock higher when temps and power allows. This chip will sit at about 3.8 most all of the time with no configuration.

That is the turbo speed.  the max it will hit in ideal conditions.

If you want to OC, get a K CPU and a Z Motherboard.

Or Ryzen.

if u even consider it, go with the 8700 u wont regret it

i went with haswell 4690k, i was happy until now i cant get a easy upgrade to a i7 anymore :P

id say, wait buying a gpu and save more money ( play on onboard for now some emulators )  or stick with the 1060 for a while, resell it when u upgrade gpu later

if its this christmas ( this upcoming ) i would not buy the gpu, buy a gpu when xmas arrives play emulators on 8700k onboard for a while

if its next year xmas , id get the 1060 and sell the 1060 later + buy new gpu

or just deal with the 1060 for more years :P

if u dont get the fps desired just lower some settings, to ur liking ofc :)  1060 is still afine card i still run on a 970gtx and 1060 6gb is like 10% quicker +-
