So im building my first ever gaming computer  (finally)! Always wanted to but never had the time or the money till now. I know i want a Ryzen build and my budget is around  $3000. So far I've decided on the ROG Crosshair VII Hero WiFi and a GTX 1080 ti in a Phanteks Evolv ATX case. That's as far as I've gotten. What do you all think? What kinda Ryzen system would you build with $3000? Any advice would be awesome.

Is it only gaming? If so, an 8700k might be a better option.

Also, as a side note, while the Evolv looks really cool the airflow is really bad.

EDIT: Also, does the budget include monitor and peripherals or no?

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Yeah... If you're going for a game machine, the 8700K will be your better option. Granted, it may make less of a difference if you combine the 1080ti with a higher res (1440p or 4K) display, but currently games still benefit most from stronger single thread performance. And for that Intel is, at the moment, the better option.

- The 8700K is the best option for gaming

- You have enough of a budget for two 1080 Tis in SLI

The case is honestly your choice, I just chose one that looked good and performed well IMO

I'd recommend against choosing for SLI. Although there's benefits in it, there are fewer and fewer scenarios where you'll get good use out of it. Especially with the premium you pay for it.

Since his budget is high enough to have two 1080 Tis in SLI as well as an 8700K... Why not?

Ya I'm just planning on gaming with it. I don't do any video editing or anything like that. Yes the monitor and peripheral are part of that $3000 budget if i can, but if i have to i can afford another $500 for all that. I'd say $3500 is my absolute top dollar for the whole system but i want to try and keep it closer to $3000.

Because it's only useful in specific scenarios. Why throw more money at it when you don't use it most of the time anyway?

I'd rather advise to spend the money you save on the extra gpu to pick a g-sync monitor to get the best experience out of that 1080ti. They cost a lot, but if you're going premium, that will get you the smoother experience. Go 1440p if you want to keep the fps up high, or choose a 4k screen if you don't "need" it that high. Depends on what you play really...

3k is a fine budget for a high-end system including peripherals.

I would suggest a case with better airflow..

Pick your own mouse and keyboard. Best if you can visit a store and actually tryout a few.

Do you have any aesthetic preferences? Like do you want tons of RGB, maybe a more minimalistic look (Define R6 type), specific color scheme, etc.

Didn't choose peripherals since I'm not too familiar with them. PSU is a bit overkill but for some reason the 750w is cheap rn... (a bit triggered by this since I just bought a new 650w PSU that ends up being more than this one xD). If you want LEDs you could also add some
