SMSL M3 as a line out

Zeny1

Hello all,

I just got some HD 6xx and they sound fine on my SMSL m3 as is, but I heard these even if they power to good volume can sound bad if they don't have a more expensive amp.

So my question is if the DAC in the SMSL is good to use with a more expensive AMP. Or do I need to buy a separate DAC and then have to sell my used SMSL m3 because I've "outgrown it?"

I'm using DC usb power + optical from my motherboard which is a MSI Z370 SLI PLUS.

In my windows I am running 24 bit / 192

Just an update if anyone is wondering....

I bought a nicely rated amp and it's much better than SMSL M3. The SMSL M3 isn't even that good of a dac to me because my onboard audio dac is producing equal if not better sound to my ears on some HD 6xx. I have a 3.5mm male on motherboard split into RCA jacks to my amp.

I will buy a DAC later on when I get more money. Something like a D10 or a D30 topping I am looking at.

EDIT: ON FURTHER TESTING THE SMSL m3 DAC NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE IN GENRES MUSIC.! WAY BETTER IN HIP HOP AND ROCK. I GUESS MY THOUGHT WAS PREMATURE LOL
