Hello LTTers!

Recently a need to get myself a second computer boiled to the surface as my fiancé's computer literally boiled (:D shit happens!). As I was hungry for an update, nothing marginal really happened.

This time around I am interested in slight change though! Up to this point in my life I was always having air cooling and was fine with it, albeit a bit noisy at times. Nonetheless, I want a liquid cooling this time!

I was unable to locate any kind of comparison anywhere on the internet, maybe I just suck at searching or perhaps the term "temp comparison between air cooler and liquid cooler" is really not the right one ;D

My general intent is to purchase 8600K, overclock it on some stable value (nothing super high) and use it as daily driver for gaming, programing, watching streams and streaming myself from time to time.

My old CPU was 6600K @ 4,5Ghz. With Noctua UH14S (double fan + tunnel). General temps were around 27°C with no load & somewhere underneath 70°C even with synthetic load (using prime95).

Now, I was personally think that Noctua UH14S should be fine with 8600K even decently clocked but I want to leave that cooler in my old computer + my new one should have transparent side panel, which means RGB!! So some ugly brown fan would not really be a big hit this time.

I don't really intend to build custom loop and only CPU will be liquid cooled, so I don't supposed huge improvement in terms of loudness. What I want to be certain is that I have good water cooler at least at my former one's level. As I was scouring through the internet, I was able to find out a lot of people suggest to use NZXT Kraken x62, is that good enough choice or should I go for something larger? Also fan replacement for NZXT Aer RGB 140 would be necessity!

Also I have no proper knowledge how to place fans in computer with liquid cooling. I wanted some "basic" case such as Fractal Design Focus G but I really have no clue where to place fans correctly. should I place the radiator in the front, so it doubles as intake? (I don't think that is correct!) The maybe on the top of the case? & does it even fit there? I want proper airflow, so I am straight away asking for help from someone more experienced that me, in that matter.

You might also ask why I pick such plain looking case, but I actually want the fans to be somewhat visible even from the front but since I live in a old house, dust gathers quite fast here so filters are basic equipment here. I don't dwell on the case though.

Thanks for your help guys!

Rad in front works pretty well. I think the Krakens are pretty overpriced, would only buy if you have the Smart Device

You mean the hub controller for them? :)
Also if I place radiator in the front, what should I do about fan slots on the top of the case? (intake/outtake)
