[MASSDROP] Samsung CHG90 SUPERULTRAW I D E $900

ARikozuM

Massdrop is currently offering the LC49HG90DMNXZA, or CHG90, for $900 USD with free shipping (which is better than what Samsung was charging).

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/samsung-49-qled-hdr-144hz-gaming-monitor#description

This is an outstanding monitor. It's still early adopter phase for the superultrawides, but after seeing one I can say that it was amazing. You don't notice the pixels at this size. It's still harder to drive than 2560x1440, but the added information at the periphery is a godsend for FPS and RTS (driving and flying simulators may be interested in this), but a GTX 1080 can still drive Battlefront 2 at 60Hz Ultra or 100Hz High with AA at 4x. Anyone considering an upgrade to a triple setup, but would like to forgo the need for a monitor tree would be astounded with this single beast that replaces two monitors.

The most common use for this that I'm seeing is to set a 1920x1080 window in the monitor settings and use that for a single program while the rest is on the side.

900 dollars for 1080p? No thank you.

No offense intended, but that thinking is far too simplistic.

This isn't just a "1080p" panel. This is twice the width allowing much more viewable space in games and programs. Also, you aren't going to be running a 5120x1440 monitor any time soon.

In case somebody was curious, this is a FreeSync monitor.

I hope Samsung can make one of these with G-Sync for the same price.

Okay 2 1080p monitors for 900 dollars... No thanks. Especially overwatch will not scale to the wider resolution.

One can only hope. That G-Sync premium will be the deciding factor.

Your opinion is your own as well. I am saying you can have instead is 2 1080p monitors, and get that resolution for a lot less than 900 dollars.

The only value added to this product is curved and a wide one screen. It's up to whoever wants to buy it if the value added features are worth the cost.
