"Cannot be used to upgrade system"  meaning windows 7 to windows 10 for example correct? NOT upgrading actual components..... right?

Meaning 7 to 10, yes

I had to replace a dead motherboard, so i decided to upgrade my entire system pretty much. for x99 and 6800k to z370 and 8700k. Now my windows is no longer activated. I know its because my key was attached to my old MB. My question is this....

Now I go back to kinguin to get a new key, do i have to actually reinstal this "new windows" or can I just input the new key when propted?

Not really good at the software side of this and not sure I am even getting my question across properly lol.

Basically given my 1st statement, how do i activate windows now?

New key should work just fine without reinstall. If you don't have the correct version/type of windows it'll tell you.

This info is from the sellers store in kinguin. Not sure if I understand this correctly, can anyone explain what it means pertaining to my original questions?
