"Upgrade" to Windows 7 or stay with 8?

So Microsoft is planning on to stop selling windows 7 this year. I went from Vista to 8 and wished I would have just bought 7 to put on my pc. I don't like my experience on 8 even compared to vista. Should I get 7 or stay with 8 hoping it will get better?

Keep Windows 8. Your PC will be supported slightly longer, and it is a little more lightweight on the computer's resources.

when you say 8 do you mean 8.1? I was anti windows 8 and stuck with 7 for ages and loved it but after finally deciding to jump to 8.1 am completely happy with it and even get a little boost in pc performance. I never had win 8 and really dont know the difference between that and 8.1. after playing with it and tweaking it for a bit its pretty much like windows 7 as far as interface which makes me comfy.

Keep windows 8 and just install Classic Start or Start Is Back.

Either one will make it mostly like Windows 7.

Every time there is a thread about W8.

Dat face though...

But yeah. Windows 8 is fine if you have Classic Start (which is free btw) or Start is Back (which costs money) @SparkySamZa

true but i could start going on about the incompatibility issue with windows 8 on older titles which 7 does not have :)

I've never come across such issues. I have a bit of old games. Maybe I don't have old enough? Don't know. I just know it works 100% fine for me.

I wouldn't use it at all if I had to use Metro. The inefficiency (for me) would bother the fire out of me.

After trying to work a win 8 laptop at work I can safely say they can shove that OS up their giant arrogant arse.

If my pc broke, I couldnt buy win 7 and I had somehow lost my win 7 licenses, I would just give up pcs and grt another hobby.

First impressions not great. LOL. I have not heard a single person say anything except they hate it irl.

Theres nothing wrong with metro... if anything metro is actually more efficient than windows shell.

Why the hate for windows 8 even the 8 not 8.1 wasnt bad people just dont like change and resort to complaining about how bad it is just for the sake of it

I've argued extensively about why that is not true. I'm not doing it again.

To summarize it: Metro is very efficient for point and click/touch interfaces. However, for a desktop computer, keyboard is most efficient. And anything that requires a transition from Keyboard+Mouse to Keyboard (to type with two hands), sacrifices time and efficiency.

It ultimately depends on the situation, but generally, I believe the keyboard is best. And the only way to navigate with metro with keyboard only is with searches, which bypasses the whole point of metro. Listing everything at once.

Honestly, it's very close though. So I would use either based purely on efficiency. However, I just hate metro's interface. Because I have a mouse and not a touch screen. And I'm on a desktop. So I prefer the normal interface.
