Does anyone know where I could buy Cherry MX keycaps with real gold plating? I'm mostly looking for just the WASD as I imagine they would come at a premium. I did some googling, couldn't find any. I know this is stupid, but any help would be appreciated.

Closest I can find are these. For REAL gold plated ones, they would most likely have to be custom made.

Wouldn't the weight of the gold cap mean you'd have to use stiffer switches? Actuation force is measured in grams, so if the weight of the cap is higher than the force of the switch, it'll be permanently depressed. As, possibly, will your bank manager after finding this is what you spent your money on.

 

You can't "gold plate" plastic caps, they'd have to be metal - most commonly copper or silver.

he said plating. so no lol. maybe solid gold.

 

but if you really want you can make some or order some metal caps just ones that can be plated and then get some gold and use a thing like this

to plate it, make sure to put a protective layer over it when done to not ruin it it wont be a cheap endeavor.
