Need suggestions for a quiet CPU for a HTPC, 7600k which will not be overclocked at all, before someone gets angry at the CPU choice, I'm not buying the CPU for this rig, the 7600k is currently in my gaming rig, which I will be upgrading to a 7700k as the same time, so it will be a spare part, so I could sell it and buy an i3, or I could just use it and save the hassle, case is a 250D, budget isn't really an issue but lets not get crazy, was originally gonna get the Noctua NH-L12, which they don't make anymore, and the new version seems very thin so the fan would have to spin faster to keep it cooler, would like this to be as quiet as possible.

Thanks peeps

Cryorig c7?  not sure what the space requirements are for the case you have... but if not overclocking anyway, it shouldn't be a problem. works Ok on my 6700K, but I don't put major loads through it as it's in my server, but when recoding/transcoding hits around mid-high 60s, and sometimes mid 70s IIRC.

as I said this will be a HTPC, will not be under load really ever, the i3 would be more than enough, I'm just being lazy and gonna reuse it

thank you for the info, I knew it wasn't going to be bad, noctua don't do bad very often, just after as quiet as possible, only having the 1 200mm case fan to keep the noise down

No worries, FWIW the term HTPC is one of those generic terms, it doesn't really specify what intent you have for it as such. It technically means Home Theater Personal Computer, but a lot of people also use them to play games and use them as regular PCs too, so could include major loads, which is why I mentioned the load that would be put through it. Playing back media is most likely gonna be low load, but gaming could be pretty much anything. Just wanted to make sure what you were gonna use it for, didn't want you coming back down the line and saying you got a dodgy cooler recommendation as it's heating up too much :D

For regular media duties loads, the c7 would be more than enough.. I have my server in a fractal design 804, with just the 2 included 120mm intakes and 1 exhaust. It's also in my media unit, which only has a gap of approx 3-4cms between the upper and right hand sides of the case to the unit, and most times it's like below

Anyway, hope that helps.

that't very useful thank you!

No its going to be a 4K media playback and web browsing, no gpu installed just getting a fancy motherboard so I can use the HDMI 2.0 and the onboard graphics on the 7600k, it will never game or render after it goes in this build.
