Ultrawilde 1440p

I want to buy a Samsung ultra wide 1440p monitor.

The monitor has AMD Freesync, I don't want to spend a lot of money for a vega 56 so I want to get the RX 580. It's around the same price as the Nvidia 1070 and 1070 ti.

I think the 1070 is more Powerful. But Rx 580 has freesync, so is freesync worth it?

Or should I wait for the release of the 600 series from AMD

I want to play AAA games. On high or ultra settings

Which should I choose?

If you don't want adaptive refresh rate to work, then go with Nvidia. Otherwise, go with an AMD card.

The 1070 will be much more powerful than a 580. I game on an R9 290 on a 1440p ultrawide-- the 290 is maybe 5-10% behind the 580 nowadays (check benchmarks), and it struggles with hitting 60fps on high/ultra.

That sucks, but turning down to medium isn't all that worse visually and is free.

If screan tearing is a big issue for you then consider getting the FreeSync monitor and the 580. The 1070 is a great GPU if you can get it at a reasonable price.

Since the 600 series AMD cards are not out yet, it is hard to recommend them. Always wait for benchmarks.

Which Samsung ultrawide were you looking at?

I'm gonna buy this monitor for sure.

It is a 100hz monitor but 60fps of Good enough for me

I can get a RX 580 for around 250 to 400 euro. The vega cards ar to expensive 650+ And a 1070 for 400 to 500. Euro I can get a Nvidia founders 1070 for 429 and a founders 1070 ti for 496 but the 1070 ti is not in sock. And a non founders is way to overpriced for around 600 euro
