I have an S7 currently, just went online and paid it off but Verizon is doing a $300 off on the S9+ and if I order it through Samsungs site that ends up making it like $20 a month (for the next 2 years) for the financing, trying to decide if the upgrade is worth another 2 years of phone payments. how much faster is the phone?

For a normal person it shouldn't matter about the year to year processing power for an Android device from S6 and up. What has gotten better is power management, when fast charging the phone and using it at the same time it gets barely warm instead of hot like the S6.

You'd upgrade if you wanted the dank infiniti-screen. Which is pretty worth it.

WELL WORTH IT I went ahead and did it, the phone is notable faster and the screen is freaking huge, have to check out the low light camera performance yet, but should be better then , the transition was super simple, after activating the phone you use the USB-c to USB-a OTG adapter and the charging cable of the S7 to connect the 2 phones together and Samsung has an app built in that copies all your apps, contacts, messages, call logs, EVERYTHING copies over even the layouts of the homescreens (note homescreen copy doesn't work on devices that didn't ship with the app pre-installed), it's like I just made my phone bigger and got an extra row of space on each homescreen, but all apps are where they where so no relearning new locations.

Mu sister just got an S7 yesterday. The most striking thing was how ill-behaved the SD820 in that thing is (hot, and drains battery like no tomorrow under light usage). My own phone, which uses a virtually identical SD821 behaves far better (snappier, cooler, doesn't devour battery, etc). What the heck is Samsung doing wrong with the S7 software?

My eyes see the past…

My camera lens sees the present…

yyea, the Exynos version of the s7(edge) Is way better. like 20-30% longer battery life, a bit more performance.

Don't know if S9 is worth it, i still use my S7 Edge since pre-release. Will wipe and re-configurate when oreo firmware comes out in my region, and hope it works better, but right now, it kinda lags as hell on even the easiest tasks, and battery life is les than half what it was when i got it fresh ^^" i hope, it's due to how android itself behaves after enough junk files are collected over the months..

I plan to keep using it untill the next iPhone, or next years Android flaggships, probably  Galaxy S10~, Huawei P30 pro etc.
